TRADITIONS IN BUSINESS
It hit me like a ton of bricks! (it’s just an expression) I was watching a long-long video on what they don’t teach you in Business School. A comment caught my attention from one of the guest speakers. Her comment was relative to the fact that while she was engaged in business in Corporate America, she always tried to “do it all”. After she left to strike out on her own, she realized the importance of partnerships.
She made a comment that the one thing that stands out in her mind that she wish they had thought her in Business School was to better understand where she was lacking so she could pick partners better that could fill those functions.
I picked up on this because I have been reading, Tax Free Wealth by Tom Wheelwright, CPA. In his book, he talks about what you need regarding a team for your Financial Planning.
Notably, the first Business School was established in 1819 in Paris, France. In the United States, the first Business School would have been established in the late 1800’s.
I only mention these dates as a reference to traditions in business. This was not the beginning of business but instead, it was a change in business.
TWO CHANGES IN BUSINESS
The first change is with the start (and need) of Business Schools. Anyone that states there is not a need for business schools is a fool and for fear of discovery, I will no longer state thus!
The need of business schools is an answer to the demands of BIG BUSINESS! (This is my opinion and I am entitled to it since I am the author of this fantastic piece of work!!!)
In Michael Ellsberg book, “The Education of Millionaires”, he mentions the lack of courses in Business Schools on salesmanship. This is because Business Schools so not train sales forces, they train management!
The SECOND CHANGE is the redirecting of business back to the roots of business as the Entrepreneur!
I said all of the above just to get to this point!
For those of you that are reading this, YOU know who you are and what you want! However, you have not found out how you are going to get it!
In the movie, City Slickers, the old cowboy told Billy Crystal that he only needed to find one thing to make him happy. When Billy Crystal asked him what it was, he stated, “that’s what you have to find out”!
Many of you reading this are looking for that one thing! If you were interested in Business School, you wouldn’t be here reading this. Even if you went to business school, you might be up to your eyeballs in paperwork and you don’t know WHAT THEY DON’T TEACH YOU IN BUSINESS SCHOOL because you are too busy to realize something is missing!
I won’t be like the old cowboy and die without giving you the answer. However, since you don’t know what you are looking for anyway, I can’t give you the whole answer. this is something you need to find out for yourself.
Here is your hint so you can find what you are looking for.
